Gov. Newsom Mandates All California Teachers And Staff Get Vaccinated
With schools all across America back in full swing, children, teens, and adults are once again filling the hallways and classrooms as COVID-19 is supposedly still present. With each state having to make a decision, the Democrats are pushing schools to enforce all children wear masks.
Even the CDC’s new guidelines suggest children as young as two wear masks at their own homes. While Republican strongholds like Florida have gawked at the new recommendations, states like California will become the first in the nation to require all school staff, including teachers, to get the COVID-19 vaccine. If they don’t they will be subject to weekly testing.
Making the announcement on Wednesday, Governor Gavin Newsom, who is currently facing a recall election, said, “We think this is the right thing to do, and we think this is a sustainable way to keeping our schools open and to address the number one anxiety that parents like myself have for young children. That is knowing that the schools are doing everything in their power to keep our kids safe.”
For those that might be wondering, the new policy will apply to both public and private schools. This will affect over 800,000 employees that work in the cafeteria and janitorial services. Not to mention, the 320,000 school teachers who will also have to get the vaccine. And what about the people who volunteer to help at the school with car pickup or extracurricular activities? They also will be subject to the vaccine.
Like many states, California has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, although their Democrat leadership has enforced lockdowns and mask mandates. But that isn’t due to their poor leadership, according to Democrats – it is all due to the new Delta variant, which makes the vaccine almost useless. As for the teachers’ unions in the state that are the two largest, they support Newsom’s vaccine mandate fully.
Releasing a statement, California Federation of Teachers President E. Toby Boyd said, “Educators want to be in classrooms with their students, and the best way to make sure that happens is for everyone who is medically eligible to be vaccinated, with robust testing and multi-tiered safety measures.”
While the new mandate only affects teachers and workers, Newsom said he wouldn’t rule out making it mandatory for students when the vaccine is approved for children under 12, because who knows better for their children than the Democrats. Talking to reporters, Newsome said, “We’ll consider all options in the future. We believe this is a meaningful first step.”
